House Project

house project
The Kappa Omicron chapter house was designed by Jeter Eason and completed in 1950. Its predecessor had been a stucco building constructed in 1927. The national sorority inaugurated its chapter here in Rhodes' first year, 1925.

The AOII house at Rhodes was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2006. As time has passed, age had taken its toll on the house. With the updates in building and fire safety codes that have taken place over the years, our chapter lodge was out of date and posed a safety threat to our members! In the 2006-2007 school year, we made the following repairs to our beloved chapter house:

  • Fresh wall paint in every room
  • Replaced the floor in the Chapter Room
  • Rebuilt the ceiling in the Chapter Room
  • Removed stucco from ceilings in Florida and Ritual Rooms
  • Repaired water-stained ceiling in Ritual Room
  • New light fixtures in most rooms
  • Rebuilt the wall that supports the Chapter and Florida Rooms
  • Dishwasher and garbage disposal added in Kitchen
  • Fire suppression sprinklers installed throughout the house
  • New smoke detectors throughout the house
  • Security and fire system installed
  • Stereo/sound system hookup installed
  • Replaced the roof with new shingles

AOII Properties, a division of Alpha Omicron Pi, has graciously loaned the chapter the funding to repair our home. Each month, Kappa Omicron pays down the debt now owed to AOII Properties. As you can imagine, this has been a costly undertaking.

The total cost of the project is $140,000. Since its completion in 1950, our chapter house has been home to many classes of Kappa Omicrons. We want to make sure it is home to many more! We are asking for support from our Kappa Omicron family in order to assist the chapter in paying off this debt. Will you consider a donation?

With alumnae support, our chapter can eliminate its debt faster and allocate funds to additional house needs, such as new furniture, updated bathroom fixtures, improved landscaping, and replacement windows.

To donate, please mail a check (made out to "Kappa Omicron") to:
